Volunteer roles

We have a number of volunteer roles. Working with other museum personnel, some of these roles could be shared or done remotely.

  • Front of house – our most essential volunteer, opening the museum and providing a warm welcome to visitors.
  • Head gardener – lead the way in turning our garden into a pollinator-friendly kitchen garden.
  • Gardener(s) – work with the head gardener to transform our garden.
  • From home gardener – are you able to provide the museum with young plants, seedlings, divided plants, or even compost?
  • Collections (management, preventative conservation, research) – these roles ensure our collections are safe, and accessible to the community.
  • Maintenance and DIY – helping to maintain our beautiful Georgian building.
  • Community engagement (schools and afterschool groups, social media) – creatively engaging with Billericay’s communities to ensure greater access
